All sorts of resources for healing are emerging

Lots of people talk about resolutions, goals and diets this time of year.  Consider asking yourself “What’s ready for healing?” instead. That’s something I do regularly and the stuff that comes up often surprises me (and turns out to be spot on brilliant).

Your answers might include forgiving someone, releasing a fear,  clearing clutter or taking on a healthy habit for the long haul.  It’s been an interesting start to 2017 and I am realizing so many new and important lessons about healing that are worth sharing as I recover from my ankle reconstruction surgery on January 10.  Here are my top 10:
  1. Ask for prayers, pray for others and express gratitude for whatever help arrives. All 3 actions result in healing flow that can be amplified.  Keep it going.
  2. REST! Healing takes energy.  It’s okay to sit in stillness, sleep, and do nothing to allow that healing to happen.
  3. Animals are excellent healers.  Allow them to do their work in their own way, without expectations.  Sometimes it’s about making you laugh.
  4. Keep admitting your fears, then use EFT to acknowledge and transform them.
  5. Consult with experts.  There are people all around you who have overcome challenges and have ideas to help you succeed.  The invaluable tips from my Facebook friends helped me choose the right clothing before and after surgery, take my first shower and identify aromatherapy and homeopathic remedies for support.  More are still emerging.
  6. Eat like a healer.  The nutritional guidance I have received from Amanda Liptak RD has added a new dimension to my health both before and after surgery.  I am losing weight, after months of frustration. It has been surprisingly easy to stop eating added sugars.  Are you curious about what changed? Watch for an announcement for an online program Amanda and I will be doing together in February merging my EFT skills with her nutritional expertise.
  7.  Notice the small changes and take notes.  Healing happens in its own time.  Journaling each day can capture awareness, learning, challenges and fears.  Simply journalling specific things like pain, feelings, emotions, appetite, weight, sleep, digestion and mood can affirm that changes are happening.
  8. Help people know your boundaries.  If you are making changes, others may need to understand.  That might include limits on when you are available, foods you are trying to avoid, and things you will not tolerate.  Just changing my voicemail to tell callers I’m taking a healing vacation from now till Jan. 30 was a beautiful thing.
  9. Welcome connection.  Visits, cards, calls and emails are all great ways to stay in the loop even when you are healing.  Encourage the form that is appropriate for your needs.  Healing loves company and witnesses.  No matter what you are going through, someone else is probably going through it too.
  10. Have FAITH and be grateful.  There have been moments of intense pain that crushed me this week.  I wept, tapped, asked for prayers and struggled.  Many friends told me that in 3 days it would be better.   They were right.  Pain went from 10 to 2 by the end of day 3.  Remember, others have succeeded and you can too.
