Where have you found the best inspiration lately?  I asked that question to a room full of smart women last week.  Their responses were simple, sweet and real: the profound wisdom of children…the brilliant optimism of young adults…the never ending wonders of nature. Good old fashioned inspiration was winning and that certainly made me smile.

My word for June is INSPIRATION, a. divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation. b : the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions. c : the act of influencing or suggesting opinions.
As much as I love this word inspiration, it also was annoying me a bit.  It’s become cliche.  Inspirational quotes are everywhere I turn.  Was I becoming numb to an overload?
During the past month, my personal stream of inspirational moments kept me wondering what to highlight as I completed the manuscript for the new book, The Comeback.  I was simultaneously basking in the satisfaction of completing another wonderful EFT training and women’s retreat, along with my niece Amy’s wedding.  Inspiration was everywhere!

Just as I was ready to publish this newsletter, a post on Facebook truly inspired me to contemplate sources of inspiration more deeply.  It was a concept developed by Dr. Daniel Amen referred to as “The Healthy Mind Platter”.  Dr. Amen is world famous for his research on the brain.  He’s concluded that there are seven daily essential mental activities to optimize brain matter and create well-being.  Boom – this nailed that flow of inspiration.  During sleep it may be dreams and while working out, creative thoughts emerge. When we play and connect with others, the brain receives and makes room for new concepts.  When we go within to meditate, make time for a new book or simply do nothing, there is also an opening for lovely experiences.  It’s clearly a shifting mixture, available in so many situations.  Don’t you agree?

I trust you’ll experiment with the Platter and be filled with the perfect inspiration.  Summer is loaded with it.
