As we go to the polls today, I am again reminded of those guiding principles quoted by Warren Buffet to describe the qualities of positive relationships. If you can answer “yes” to all 3 questions, the relationship is a keeper. They are certainly good questions to ask as you go to the polls to select candidates:
1. Do I like them? 2. Do I respect them? 3. Do I trust them?
I have found that #3 is perhaps the most challenging of the 3 questions when it comes to politics, and it is one I think about often as I try to develop qualities to allow others to feel that they can trust me as a friend and also in business situations.
Here are the 5 principles I use to be the kind of a person people can trust:
1. Be a walking billboard for what I believe in. Model the behavior that I teach. Love and use the products and services I share.
2. Act and speak in ways that demonstrate my values.
3. Admit that I am not perfect and that I have made mistakes, then learn something from them. Ask how I can make things better when there is a misunderstanding or disappointment.
4. Associate and affiliate with people and organizations who have a strong track record for trust, quality and honoring promises.
5. Demonstrate my faith in the unseen, benevolent consiousness that is present in all things.
Trust needs time to develop and grow. Be what you wish to see. Develop yourself as a person who can be trusted and the Law of Attraction will bring you relationships based on trust.
