The Mystical Maui Passage

As I return from 7 days in Maui with The Peaceful Woman organization, I am filled with a sense of gratitude for what visionary CEO Cher Bertrand has created. The Maui Passage is a retreat experience that opens, shapes and enhances the soul in ways that a series of healing sessions or day workshops could never attempt to match. This retreat places each participant into a concentrated healing space where experiences, nature, the land, the ancient culture and other women guide you into a state of peaceful authenticity. It is mystical and beyond words.

I thought I was very solid going into the Maui Passage. I was there to become a facilitator. Little did I realize that I would also transform. I return home with greater courage to be who I am. That means being open-hearted, vulnerable, deeply spiritual, and someone who commands the stage and stays in the game. As a result of the passage, I intend to do more work healing spiritual energy disruptions, mending the wounds left by “absent mothers” and taking others on spiritual journeys that involve retreat experiences in natural settings. I am committed to co-facilitate my own Maui Passage with 12 women before the end of 2010.

Here’s why the Maui Passage is so rich and powerful:

1. Ancient stories are woven into daily themes. Learning about Maui’s legends, symbols, language, nature and land provide aspects for reflection and introspection.

2. The women attracted to the Maui Passage are high level spiritual beings. Conversations run deeper, explanations are often unnecessary. We bond easily and respectfully. We become mirrors for each other as we help each other see what needs to be seen. It is refreshing to be so well understood. Professional and personal collaborations are encouraged. I anticipate I will be developing new business opportunities as a result of these positive connections.

3. Ample time is allowed within healing spaces for insight and reflection. Each day there is a place for time alone at a helau (temple/healing place). Messages come to us easily here. Maui is a place where the veil between the physical and spiritual world becomes very thin. We are permitted to live inside a peaceful version of the film Avatar. Messages from Maui include profound clarity and the answers that I have been seeking come easily to me.

4. Play is an abundant component of the Maui Passage. Play is a serious force that includes laughter, silliness, jokes, word-play, games and interacting with nature. Nobody has to take things too seriously. God smiles when play is involved.

5. Excellent mentors including Auntie Gordine (former Miss Hawaii, hula teacher and entrepreneur), Jeana Nauluai (physical therapist, native healer, Lomi Lomi Massage instructor), as well as our lead facilitators Cher Bertrand, Rachel Flower and Mary. Each of these women embodies strength, love, fierce femininity, abundance, balance and accomplishment.
