I lead a group this morning on the topic “The Power of Appreciation”. One of the suggestions I made to the group was to develop a daily ritual or new habit that brings more awareness of appreciation into your life. Below are a few ideas you might consider integrating:
Set Aside a Specific Time of the Day for Appreciation – Awakening, Meals, Breaks, Bedtime
Create a meaningful routine and stick with it – habits take 3 weeks!
Heart Coherence: Heart Breathing*Heart Focus*Feelings of Appreciation
Create a Gratitude Journal – write it by candlelight!
Post a gratitude summary – update monthly (when you balance checkbook)
Notice others expressing sincere gratitude – pay attention!
Identify new ways to express your thanks and experiment with them
Add “appreciation” time to meetings, meals and family gatherings
Catch yourself appreciating something in the present moment
Accept gratitude from others with sincerity
Rotate focus of your gratitude awareness – physical, emotional, health, spiritual….
Deliberately shift your focus to appreciation during stressed or troubling times
Notice gratitude on TV, in film and on the radio
Start noticing all the goodness that surrounds you and soon you will be attracting even more. Have fun with the process and be patient with yourself as you develop this important new habit.
