At last, this weekend I will depart for a woman’s retreat at Lakeside on Lake Erie. It is something I have been creating in my mind for many months, and now it is finally emerging into reality. I am like an excited little kid. The weekend is in front of me and I can’t wait to plunge into it.
My reasons for loving retreats are probably based on many very happy retreat experiences of the past. From church retreats to small girlfriend getaways, retreats have meant an escape, a relaxing change, a time to know myself better, a new place to explore and new relationships.
When we move away from our familiar physical world and the daily routines, we move into our true essence. We let go of the daily cycles and take on new ways. We eat differently, sleep in unfamiliar rooms and different beds yet we are still the same person. Retreats allow us to know more about who we are when our world gets shaken up a bit.
I chose Lakeside for this retreat because it is a place of clear energy, strong spiritual heritage and natural beauty. It is a comfortable transition from home. It nurtures the soul and is the kind of place you want to leave home for. It is also the kind of place that stays in your heart long after you leave.
I expect miracles this weekend and will watch for these to unfold. This weekend will allow all of my special guests to find their wise inner voice and become comfortable with it. This weekend will pass all too quickly. Great times usually do and I will be grateful.
