Life’s been bumpy but I am learning that I can truly rely on my intuitive gifts and the power of prayers.
Gracie had an easy surgery on Wednesday and is recuperating nicely. Her surgeon said the spleen was in bad shape, but the other organs were okay. She’s staying at the animal hospital for another night to allow plenty of rest and will come home tomorrow. We don’t know how much longer Gracie will be with us, but at least we can assure her greater comfort for her final days.
I’m still a bit amazed by how quickly this all came up and how the power of intuition guided the decisions we needed to make.
We were a little concerned about Gracie because she was losing weight and had not been eating as much recently. We had even purchased some new stinky food for her over the weekend to try to increase her appetite. She was eagerly gulping that food down and acting like her old self, so on all accounts things looked fairly normal. She was following me up and down the stairs, so there was nothing of concern in her outward behavior.
That is until Gracie interrupted my meditation on Tuesday morning with urgency unlike anything I would expect. She kept barking at me. What did she want?
When I put my hands on her, I sensed there was a medical issue that was serious. She had successfully gotten my attention and was asking me to get her to the vet as soon as possible. I immediately called Animal Clinic Northview and took the first available appointment. Dr. Holcomb was a new doctor we hadn’t seen before, but once we met, she easily created a bond of trust. The x-rays and ultrasound showed Gracie’s spleen was in danger of a sudden rupture. We had the option of surgery or letting Gracie go without treatment, knowing death from a rupture would bring an extremely violent and unpleasant end to her life.
We didn’t make the decision quickly and returned home to think about it. Gracie’s 13.5 years old and I seriously wondered if she could handle a surgical procedure. I checked in with Gracie’s energy and was told going forward with the surgery was the highest and best.
I feel very blessed that my intuitive gifts were available to do the very best for my furry friend. The prayers from many far and wide certainly helped with this and continue to provide support. We will cherish every day we have with her.
Thank you for sharing all of this, Betsy. Gracie is deeply loved by many! Please let me know if there is anything she needs besides love and light.
I’m so happy to hear she is doing well. I will continue to hold Gracie, George, and you in my prayers. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
Betsy, you absolutely did the right thing! Our German Shepherd was acting strange & then started to sway & stumble. We took him immediately to the emergency vet. X-rays showed a tumor on the spleen that was bleeding into his abdomen & he needed immediate surgery. He required blood transfusions during the surgery & his heart stopped. They couldn’t revive him. This loss to us was unbelievable since there were no prior signs of a health issue. We were devastated. But worse was my husband was in cancer treatment & this dog was his lifeline. If the spleen had burst in Gracie, her death would have been awful. We are grateful that Zeus showed signs of a problem & that we sought help before it burst. Your intuition was exactly right! Zeus was only 7 when he died.
Oh Barbara, I am so sorry about all that you went through with Zeus and especially while your husband was so ill. I send comfort back through time to you and also honor what a strong and vibrant person you are today. Those losses are evident in your radiant compassion. I’m so honored to know you as a friend.
Thank you so much for the update. Thank God Gracie communicates and your intuition listens. Very powerful and truly game changers. Speedy recovery and strength.
Please keep us posted when she comes home. Animals are amazing and I just know she will do well!
Betsy, I’m so glad to hear that Gracie came through with flying colors. She’s very lucky to have such a special human family! This is a wonderful testament to the power of intuition. Many blessings to all of you!
I love that our furry family members know they can and do communicate with us and tell us what they want. So grateful that you listen. Many people do not. Happy that
Gracie is doing well. When it is time for her to transition, I will pray it will be peaceful.
So happy to hear she is doing well. Our pets are family and it’s so hard to see them hurting. What a blessing that you recognized her need! May Gracie give you more years of her love!
