If you’ve received an email from me, chances are good that I used a closing that included the word “blessings”. It’s a concept I believe in, but perhaps you don’t know why.
An email exchange from several friends from the field of Energy Psychology today reminded me of the power of the concept of blessing. It started when John Freedom, ACEP’s Research Chair shared a story by healer Judith Swack, PhD about being asked to bless someone during the ACEP conference. Initially uncomfortable with the request, Judith soon realized that to send a blessing is a powerful intentional energy healing gesture. I agree with Judith’s conclusion – each of us can and should send blessings more often.
Here’s what Judith Swack suggests:
“I recommend we all get serious about blessing people, including ourselves, our endeavors, our possessions, etc. To really bless someone, take a moment to center your attention on your pure soul and your connection with the greater Divine Source energy that is all around us. In that full state of presence, look toward the person or thing you are blessing and radiate divine source energy, love and supportive intention. Then say the words, “I bless you”, or “blessings upon you”, or “God be with you”, or “God bless you”, or “Good luck” or whatever words convey the feeling. It might actually make a difference in your or someone else’s life.”I know what Judith says is the truth. We forget to bless, yet can do it more. Would you like a fun way to practice sending blessings for something practical? Dan Benor, MD a psychiatrist and author who has published widely on the concept of energy healing suggests the following experiment you could conduct with herb, vegetable or flower seeds. Give it a try, and in the meantime send some blessings right now to people and situations that would benefit from healing.
Experiment:
Fill three planting pots of equal size with equal amounts of potting soil from the same source. Number each one clearly with a label or marker. Sort out corn seeds of equal size from the same seed packet. Place an equal number of seeds in the soil of each container, being careful to position each seed with its pointy end down and flat end up and to bury each to the same depth. Water each container with the same amount of water every one to three days, depending upon how fast they dry—being certain not to let the containers dry completely. See that each container gets an equal amount of light.
If you have someone else to help you, let them handle the seeds, pots and watering while you send your healing from a distance to one of the pots. Do not disclose the number of the chosen pot to the plant-tender.
Think positive, loving thoughts or project a wish to heal the first container. Ignore the second. Think angry or negative thoughts about the third (some prefer to omit the third). If your plant healing ability is strong, you should see a noticeable difference between the speed at which seeds germinate and the amount of growth at the end of two weeks. Results may vary when you give healing at different times of day and under different phases of the moon.
